    Del Mercadito de la Plaza al Wall People Caracas

    Este sábado estuvo muy activo, desde la mañana salí con mi buena amiga Daniela de Camionetica, luego de un buen desayuno acompañé a Daniela al “Mercadito de La Plaza“, en La Plaza La Castellana, quien iba a tomar las fotos para la reseña en Camionetica, aproveche y tome algunas fotos por mi cuenta, cosas muy bonitas, pero de vista rápida.

    Luego llegamos a la muestra del Wall People Caracas, en el Parque Los Caobos, donde me encontre con mi roommate Alfredo Castillo (controlpluszeta) y su talentosa novia Ina, quienes tenían algunas de sus piezas expuestas, también nos encontramos con Dan quien estaba haciendo la reseña del evento también para Camionetica y su adorable novia Adriana de Urbanimia (tengo que escribir de ellas luego), habían obras muy buenas de todos los tipos, y mucha gente tomando fotos, realmente un muy buen sábado, espero seguir retomando poco a poco las Fotos de la Semana otra vez.

    This last saturday was very active, since the morning I go out with my good friend Daniela of Camionetica, after a good breakfast I went with Daniel to the “Mercadito de La Plaza“, a small market of design and craftsmanship in La Plaza La Castellana, she was to take the pictures for the review on Camionetica, and I take some pictures on my own, had very nice things, but of quick view.

    Then we got to the exhibition “Wall People Caracas“, in the Parque Los Caobos, where I met with my roommate Alfredo Castillo (controlpluszeta) and his talented girlfriend Ina, who had some of they pieces on display, we also found Dan who was doing the review of the event also for Camionetica, and his lovely girlfriend Adriana of Urbanimia (I have to write to them later), had very good works of all kinds, and many people taking pictures, was a really good Saturday, I hope to gradually resuming my Pictures of the Week again.

    Febrero fue un mes movido, luego de ya tener todo preparado, encontrar donde vivir y estrablecerme en mi nuevo trabajo con mis nuevas obligaciones, volví a Buenos Aires para una despedida más apropiada, saludar a mis buenas amigas, visitar a Maya y a Cot, resolver algunos asuntos y liberarme de otros. Y ya puedo decir que oficialmente vivo en Caracas, muy contento de todas las cosas que estoy haciendo y las que vienen, ya iré publicando mas de todo eso.

    February was a busy month, after get everything ready, found a place to live, with my new job with my new duties, I returned to Buenos Aires for a most appropriate goodbye, say hello to my good friends, visit Maya and Cot, resolve some issues and get rid of others. And now I can officially say that I live in Caracas, so glad of everything I’m doing and the things to come, I will publish more of it soon.

    Aguas Dulces

    Mi muy buena amiga Adriana Berroterán estuvo este verano 2012 (verano austral) grabando un corto documental en la costa atlántica de Uruguay, un documental sobre un grupo de artistas que emprenden un viaje a este pequeño pueblo Aguas Dulces. La idea inicial fue formar parte de una residencia artística en la cual se jugara con la convivencia y la creación rodeados de naturaleza.

    Adriana en la fase final de la producción me invito a realizar el diseño de los gráficos y la colorización del documental, unas semanas en las que estuvimos encerrados trabajando sin parar, y luego Yo continuaría desde Venezuela para darle los últimos ajustes.

    Fue un gran trabajo que hizo Adriana con este proyecto, quien logro la colaboración de excelentes profesionales como Manuel Peña quien hizo el la edición y montaje, Lucas Grancelli quien hizo la mezcla de sonido y tantos otros amigos que se unieron al proyecto, bien sea donando su música, patrocinando parte de la producción y ayudando en lo que hiciera falta.

    El corto fue presentado en el VIII Festival Trans-Territorial de Cine Under sede Buenos Aires, el pasado 23 de Octubre con muy buena recepción, muchas felicitaciones a Adriana por tan buen trabajo y muchas gracias por haberme involucrado en tan personal proyecto.

    My very good friend Adriana Berroterán was this summer 2012 (austral summer) recording a short documentary on the Atlantic coast of Uruguay, a documentary about a group of artists who travel to this small town Aguas Dulces. The initial idea was to form part of an artist residency in which they play with creation coexistence and surrounded by nature.

    Adriana in the final stage of production invited me to do the design of the graphics and the colorization of the film, a few weeks we were locked in the working nonstop, and then I would continue from Venezuela to give the final adjustments.

    It was a great job Adriana did with this project, who managed the collaboration of excellent professionals like Manuel Peña who did the editing and mounting, Lucas Grancelli who did the sound mix and many other friends who joined the project, either by donating his music, sponsoring some production and helping wherever it took.

    The film was presented at the VIII Festival Trans-Territorial de Cine Under host Buenos Aires, on October 23 with very good reception, many congratulations to Adriana for good work and thank you very much for bringing me into such a personal project.

    Ayer domingo apenas a una cuadra de mi casa, el colectivo Street Arte BA estuvo interviniendo toda una esquina con diferentes artistas invitados, un lindo domingo invernal, mucho sol y mucho frío también, pero qué buena tarde viendo a tan buenos artistas. Me estuvo acompañando y quien tomo la mitad de las fotos mi buena amiga Adriana Berroteran.

    On Sunday just a block away from my house, the collective Street Arte BA was intervening an entire corner with different invited artists, a nice winter Sunday, lots of sunshine and very cold too, but what good afternoon seeing such good artists. I was accompanied by, and who took the half of the photos, my good friend Adriana Berroteran.

    Otra vez San Telmo

    Desde que empezó el invierno he dejado de hacer mis paseos semanales, pero este sábado salí con Maya a almorzar y aprovechamos y caminamos por el barrio, como siempre me encontré por sitios en donde no había pasado antes, una de las cosas maravillosas de San Telmo es que parece que nunca lo terminas de conocer, fue un lindo paseo, comimos en el restaurante Origen, de comida natural y orgánica, muy sabroso todo en una de las esquinas mas bonitas, Humberto 1º y Piedras, de ahí la respectiva visita a la tienda Cualquier Verdura, genial como siempre, y terminamos el día en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, que teniéndolo tan cerca de mi casa no lo conocía aun.

    Ahora está la exhibición de Nuevas Tendencias II, donde podemos ver las últimas incorporaciones de obras de arte contemporáneo argentino a la colección del museo, como suele pasar con el arte muy conceptual no todo me gustó, pero lo que si me encanto todo fue la exhibición Jóvenes y Modernos de los 50, algo con lo que me siento muy identificado, lastima que no permitan tomar fotos dentro del museo.

    En general fue un buen paseo para terminar una dura semana, a pesar del clima frío el barrio estaba muy activo, pero mas calmado que los domingos y la feria con sus miles de personas.

    Esta semana no hice playlist, no hubo tiempo y la verdad tampoco ganas, pero para no dejar de recomendar algo, acá les dejo el que hice hace un par de meses para una despedida, ahora más pertinente que nunca: Periodic Playlist 12-may-2012, incluye musica de Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald y Cannonball Adderley.

    Esta semana vi la película Shame (Vergüenza), una fuerte historia sobre necesidades, soledad y como tratamos de vivir nuestras vidas, del director Steve McQueen, el mismo de Hunger (otra fuerte película), muy buenas actuaciones y una dirección y fotografía impecables, la recomiendo.

    Since the beginning of winter I stopped doing my weekly walks, but this Saturday I went out to lunch with Maya and walked around the neighborhood, as ever I found myself in places where had never been before, one of the great things about San Telmo, it seems that never end up knowing, it was a nice walk, we ate at the restaurant Origen, natural and organic food, very tasty all, in one of the most beautiful corner, Humberto 1 º and Piedras, then the respective visit to Cualquier Verdura shop, great as always, and ended the day at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, having it so close to my house and did not know it yet.

    Now are the exhibition New Tendencies II, where we can see the latest additions of contemporary Argentine art to the museum’s collection, as often happens with very conceptual art not everything liked it, but what I loved it all was the exhibition Young and Modern of the 50’s, something I feel very identified, it’s a shame not to allow to take pictures inside the museum.

    Overall it was a nice walk to finish a hard week, despite the cold weather the neighborhood was very active, but more calm than Sunday and the trade fair with their thousands of people.

    This week I did not made a playlist, there was no time and the truth I don’t  wanted, but not to stop to recommend something, here I leave one that I made a couple of months ago for a goodbye, now more relevant than ever: Periodic Playlist 12-may-2012 includes music of Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and Cannonball Adderley.

    This week I saw the film Shame, a strong story about needs, loneliness and how we try to live our lives, from the director Steve McQueen, same of Hunger (another strong film), very good acting and impeccable direction and photography, I recommend it.

    Tentáculos de Malvaviscos

    Hace un año que había escrito de Annie Pereda y su Fabrica de Malvaviscos, y hace un año que veníamos hablando de hacer algo juntos, pero tenia que pasar un año, dos viajes de Annie a Buenos aires y algunos intentos fallidos de colaboraciones para que empezáramos a trabajar formalmente en un proyecto, pero seguro era necesario ese tiempo, el trabajo de Annie ha ganado una riqueza técnica, estética y conceptual increíble, esta chica ha trabajado sin parar desde hace tiempo y ha participado en numerosos e importantes eventos en Panama, donde reside, ganando mucho prestigio en la escena del street art del país, poniendo su talento en todos los formatos posibles, desde paredes, lienzos, papel hasta en zapatillas Adidas Stan Smith.

    Acá les dejo otra muestra de  sus lindas ilustraciones y nuevos trabajos, y ya en un futuro cercano espero mostrar algo de nuestro trabajo en conjunto.

    Was a year ago that I had written about Annie Pereda and her Fabrica de Malvaviscos (Marshmallow Factory), and a year ago that we were talking about doing something together, but had to spend a year, two trips of Annie  to Buenos Aires and a few failed attempts to that formally we started working on a project, but it sure was necessary this time, Annie’s work has gained a technical, aesthetic and conceptual  richness in a incredible way, this girl has worked tirelessly for some time and has participated in many important events in Panama, where she lives, making a lot of prestige in the street art scene in the country, putting her talent in all possible formats, from walls, canvas, paper up to Adidas Stan Smith.

    Here I give you another example of its beautiful illustrations and new works, in the near future I hope to show some of our work together.

  • Siria en Buenos Aires

    Siria en Buenos Aires

    Esta semana fue otra de estar encerrado en casa trabajando, como siempre emergencias en el trabajo, pero fue muy productiva, y este fin de semana hice un retiro completo dedicado al modelado 3D (vienen cosas nuevas para todos), que fue lo mejor y más productivo de la semana. Pero este domingo pude salir un rato al evento Buenos Aires celebra Siria, en la Av. de Mayo, donde comí un riquísimo shawarma de falafel, unos rollitos de hoja de parra y un delicioso baklava, un excelente domingo con música y bailes que por hicieron el momento mas confortable que he tenido en este par de semanas.

    This week was another of being cooped up at home working, as always was emergencies at work, but very productive, and this weekend I made a full retreat dedicated to 3D modeling (new things coming for all), it was the best and most productive thing of the week. But this sunday I go out for the event Buenos Aires celebrates Syria, on Avenida de Mayo, where I ate a delicious falafel shawarma, a fig leaf rolls and a delicious baklava, an excellent sunday with music and dances, for a instant they made the most comfortable moment  I’ve had in this couple of weeks.

    Desde hace tiempo quería escribir sobre Maikol Desousa AKA Borneo Modofokers, uno de los artistas mas talentosos que conozco.

    Yo sabia de Borneo desde hace unos años, era uno de los nuevos ilustradores de la escena en Caracas que mas sonaba en las redes sociales y alguna vez nos habíamos comunicado por internet, pero no fue hasta hace un año cuando coincidimos en el avión que nos traía a vivir a Buenos Aires que nos conocimos en persona.

    Sus ilustraciones de personajes son muy originales, con un estética que parece conocida pero combinado de una manera única, vivos colores, lineas firmes y detalles gráficos que crean todo un nuevo estilo.

    Sus trabajos abarcan desde ilustraciones hechas digitalmente hasta grandes murales que ya adornan paredes por todo Buenos Aires. Sus trabajos se pueden ver en fachadas de restaurantes, escuelas, hostales y centros culturales donde ha sido invitado, destacando su participación en el Inspiration Fest 2010 donde fue invitado a pintar junto al muy conocido ilustrador Jeremyville.

    En las semanas recientes estuvimos trabajando en la preparación de un proyecto de animación donde Borneo hizo el diseño de los personajes, un proyecto que seguro nos traerá mas satisfacciones en el futuro próximo.

    Los invito a revisar el amplio portafolio de Borneo, ademas de un excelente artista, una muy buena persona, un verdadero pana (como se dice en Venezuela), del que muchos podríamos aprender lecciones de humildad y trabajo constante.

    I have long time wanted to write about Maikol Desousa AKA Borneo Modofokers, one of the most talented artists I know.

    I knew of Borneo in recent years, was one of the new illustrators of the scene in Caracas who most looked at social networking, we occasionally talked online, but it was not until a year ago when we coincide on the plane that we brought to live in Buenos Aires that we met in person.

    His illustrations of character are very original, with an aesthetic that seems familiar but combined in a unique, vivid colors, strong lines and graphic details that create a whole new style.

    His works range from illustrations done digitally, to large murals who already adorn walls all around Buenos Aires. His works can be seen on the facades of restaurants, schools, hostels and cultural centers where he has been invited, highlighting his participation in the Inspiration Fest 2010 where he was invited to paint with the well know artist Jeremyville.

    In recent weeks we were working on the preparation of an animation project where Borneo do the characters design, a project that surely will bring more satisfaction in the near future.

    I invite you to review the broad portfolio of Borneo, plus a fine artist, a very good person, a real “pana” (as they say in Venezuela), which many of us could learn lessons of humility and hard work.

    Pinta Pintar

    Mis amigos de Jojoto Music me invitaron a participar en la segunda edición de Pinta Pintar, “una intervención colectiva, festiva e itinerante de arte, música y multimedia en espacios 3D, realizada por distintos artistas del mundo. El objetivo de Pinta Pintar, es recuperar espacios que tienen vida pública.”

    Esta segunda edición se hizo en el Sexto Cultural, un centro de cultura y arte popular en el sexto piso de un edificio recuperado por la comunidad, ubicado en el barrio de Chacarita, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

    En el evento participaron más de 150 artistas de todas de diferentes disciplinas y con sus diferentes talentos dieron vida en el espacio a una jornada de más de 12 horas.

    Entre tantos artistas hubo una chica que me llamo mucho la atención por su performance tan impactante de drum&bass y breakbeat, Catnapp, cantante/productora de todo su increíble material, quien amablemente me cedió algunos de sus track para hacer la edición de video.
