    Second post of my trip to Margarita

    Al final del recorrido por el norte de Margarita, paramos en Juan Griego y subimos al Fortín de La Galera, un antiguo fuerte colonial español construido para defender la isla de los piratas del caribe.

    Sobre el fortín vimos uno de los atardeceres más bonito, el sol ocultándose sobre la Península de Macanao (el próximo post es sobre la visita a esa parte de la isla) y el reflejo sobre la playa, el mejor final para un excelente día.

    At the end of the route through northern Margarita, we stopped at Juan Griego and climbed the Fortin de La Galera, a Spanish colonial old fort built to defend the island from the pirates of the caribbean.

    Over the fort we saw one of the most beautiful sunsets, the sun setting on the Macanao Peninsula (the next post is about the visit to that part of the island) and the reflection on the beach, the best ending to a great day.

    Amanecer

    Pablo Rafael Rodriguez Lugo, mi primo en Guanare, mi ciudad natal, me pidió que le hiciera la portada para su libro de poemas que esta siendo publicado por la editorial venezolana, El Perro y La Rana, hace un mes me envio el poemario y me sorprendió la crudeza de la búsqueda del amor, perdido en fantasias y en un gran romanticismo con una gran esperanza de triunfar al final, justo al amanecer y al mismo tiempo sera es el punto de partida de una nueva vida. Para la portada quise mostrar al mismo tiempo la luz del amanecer y la luz al final del túnel de una manera muy literal, usando elementos recurrentes en mis ilustraciones, la luz, las esferas y los tentáculos o destellos del sol.

    Pablo Rafael Rodriguez Lugo, a cousin in Guanare, my hometown, asked me todo the cover for his new book of poems that is being published by El Perro y La Rana. A month ago he sent the poems and I was surprised by the harshness of the search for love, lost in fantasies and romance with great hope to be succeed at the end, just at dawn and at the same time be the starting point of a new life. For the cover I wanted to show both the sunrise and the light at the end of the tunnel in a very literal way, using recurring elements in my work, the light, spheres and the tentacles/glimpses of the sun.

    When my friend Feven saw the artwork the first thought she have was: “Future, water, survival, gentile yet piercing”, I found it very accurate.
