    Uno de los trabajos más divertidos que he hecho acá en Panamá es el comercial para Estrella Azul, una marca local de helados y demás productos lácteos, una de las producciones más completas que ha hecho Estudio Térmica y donde me involucre en diferentes partes del proceso.

    Los chiques de Térmica son famosos por su trabajo en dirección de arte, ilustración y posproducción, pero poco a poco han estado incursionando más en la producción de de los comerciales, y esta fue una muy buena ocasión para demostrar todas sus capacidades, hacer los spot de los nuevos productos de Estrella Azul.

    Mi participación empezó desde el principio, cuando acompañe como fotógrafo a la producción en el proceso de casting del talento, un interesante experimento y la oportunidad para fotografiar modelos profesionales.

    Pero mi labor principal fue la dirección de fotografía conjunta con los hermanos Gil, quienes fueron los directores de la pieza, un largo día de estudio y una de las mejores experiencias, amo el trabajo de cámara.

    Luego trabajé de apoyo en la preparación del material, edición y posproducción, y hasta pude ejercitar un poco mis conocimientos en FX.

    Fue una muy buena oportunidad y gran confianza la que tuve de parte de Térmica, de probar mis talentos, nivelar mis habilidades y refrescar mis conocimientos, ya habían pasado unos años desde que participe en trabajos de equipo tan grandes.
    Entre toma y toma pude registrar parte del proceso, y acá un poco del día en el estudio.

    One of the coolest jobs I’ve done here in Panamá is the commercial for Estrella Azul (blue star), a local brand of ice cream and other dairy products, one of the most complete productions that Estudio Térmica has done and where I get involved in different parts of the process.

    The guys from Térmica are famous for their work in art direction, illustration and post production, but little by little they have been venturing more into the production of commercials, and this was a very good opportunity to demonstrate all their abilities, make the spots of the new products of Estrella Azul.

    My participation began from the beginning, when I accompanied as a photographer to the production in the talent casting process, an interesting experiment and a good opportunity to photograph professional models.

    But my main job was the joint direction of photography with the Gil brothers, who were also the directors of the piece, a long day in the studio and one of the best experiences, I love work behind the camera.

    Then I worked as a support in the preparation of the material, editing and post production, and I was even able to exercise my knowledge in FX.

    It was a very good opportunity and great confidence that I had from Térmica, to test my talents, level my skills and refresh my knowledge, it had been a few years since I participated in such large team works.

    Between take and take I was able to register with my little camera part of the process, and here a little of the day in the studio.

    En ese tiempo Héctor era ya un talentoso diseñador e ilustrador, quien empezaba a incluir en todas las campañas su trabajo en 3D, para mi, quien pensaba que sabía algo de 3D era lo más avanzado que habia visto.     Varios años luego recibo un mensaje de Héctor que hizo un cambio total en mi vida y me trajo de vuelta a Caracas y a trabajar juntos nuevamente.

    Esta vez los hermanos Gil habían fundado el Estudio Creativo Térmica, donde estaban haciendo un gran trabajo en post producción, animación, ilustración, dirección de arte, diseño de personajes y demás, para mi de lo mejor que hay en Venezuela, una isla de creatividad y talento de alto nivel en un mar de mediocridad que desgraciadamente inunda el medio publicitario en Venezuela (no por falta de talento, que lo hay mucho en el país, más por políticas erradas en la administración y la visión del medio).

    En el tiempo que he trabajado con los chicos y chicas de Térmica hemos nutrido una muy buena amistad, como nunca he hecho con compañeros de trabajo, y ahora este talentoso grupo se prepara a internacionalizar sus operaciones, a tomar nuevos riesgos, a liberarse de la ortodoxia publicitaria venezolana y seguro seguirán recogiendo éxitos en todos los sitios a donde irán.

    Beli la belle, creo que fue Álvaro quien lo dijo o parece algo que Álvaro diría, muy apropiado por supuesto, y no lo digo solo por lo realmente bonita que es Belinda, ella es una de las mujeres más interesantes que he conocido.

    Conozco a Belinda Tellez desde hace muchos años, de otra vida cuando Yo estudiaba artes en Mérida, en Los Andes venezolanos; recuerdo a esta chica súper cool con la que siempre coincidía en los mismos círculos que frecuentábamos, pero fue años más tarde que nos hicimos amigos, poco antes de ambos ir a vivir a Caracas.

    Luego coincidimos nuevamente cuando estaba en mi primer año viviendo en Buenos Aires, donde ella fue a hacer unos estudios superiores en creatividad, un año muy divertido por cierto, hicimos muchos amigos y creamos un muy buen grupo.

    Desde esos días he ido conociendo nuevas facetas de Belinda, ademas de sus estudios en letras y literatura y de ser una muy talentosa creativa publicitaria, se ha venido destacando como fotógrafa, especialmente en Instagram, donde ha hecho uso de esta herramienta de una manera excelente, donde maneja una estética muy cuidada, bellísimas composiciones y complementadas genialmente con unos muy buenos títulos, cada foto es realmente un poema, desde los autorretratos hasta sus capturas esos espacios que abundan en Caracas que te llevan a otros tiempos, algunos que nunca vivimos, otros que nunca existieron.

    Espero que pronto podamos hacer algún trabajo fotográfico juntos, o alguna cosa divertida para no aburrirme tanto en mi estadía en Caracas.

    Recomiendo seguir a Belinda en su cuenta de Instagram y fascinarse como Yo, también seguir su cuenta en twitter, que funciona como un experimento creativo sobre las cosas que le gustan y las que no y su Tumblr “Sin la parte de arriba“, micro reflexiones sobre la vida, o algo así.

  • Bolibomba Sin Azucar, Hierba y Mora

    Recently I made an entertained work of art direction for Pronto Publicidad and the advertising agency Publicis, an amused video of internal trade marketing for Bolibomba, a local bubble gum mark, leaves from the transnational company Nestle in Venezuela, was a laborious work of animation 3D done by the Pronto boys, in addition of the support in production of Publicis, made everything in so single 4 days, days in which I practically lived in the offices of Publicis in Caracas. An interesting experience.
