    Aladdin Sane

For years I’ve been using as image and avatar in all the social networks, two of my favorite photographs (for me, the best I have taken so far), they represented very special moments as well, but now I have decided to change to an image from an animation I’ve been working on, it’s an interpretation of the photograph of David Bowie, shot by Brian Duffy and used for the cover of Aladdin Sane.

    Old Stuff

These days I´m doing two animations for my personal portfolio (the most complex I’ve done so far); I´m participating in an animation project with very talented people; I´m making a web site for a local Tiffany equivalent, and soon I will begin to help Alexis on Fistful Apparel; among other things. But as if I have spare time, I decided to make a new post for my blog.

While I’m working and listening the records of Omar Rodriguez Lopez, I thought of the conversation I had had the other night with Borneo: about the ephemeral nature of digital works, and how difficult it is to make them last over time. In particular how it is almost impossible to keep them forever because there is not a system yet that can ensure a safe permanent backup. For me the solution is to keep them on line, perhaps the best way to endure while they are available to everyone.

Thinking about that I remembered one of my old projects, one of my favorites that I did for my first portfolio outside Zircons. It was a job that really expresses much of what was happening in those days (2007), my life in Caracas, the work and the exploration of new techniques. I have to say it is strongly influenced by the Neo-Expressionism of the 80´s, keeping the distance of course.

This is one of my works that I would not lose over time. Although my style and aesthetic is developed by a very different path, it was a way to express all the anger that was trapped, the need to express it all at once, and like the Neo Expressionism, react to all the minimalist work that I had done until then.

Hope you enjoy and can make a sincere comment on what you think about the works.

    Pinta Pintar

    Guanare Video

This is a video that I recorded a few months ago when I visited my parents’ house in Guanare, my hometown, was testing for the first time making video with the Canon EOS 7D, was a very hot summer afternoon in one of the worst droughts that have hit Venezuela.

It was recorded at the Bolívar square, in front of the headquarters of “La Orquesta Sinfónica de Los Llanos.”

I take the music of the argentine minimal techno producer George S (A.K.A. Jorge Savoretti) of the netlabel Igloo-rec.

This is an artwork I did for a very special friend, began as something little and ended up being something much bigger, I think is one more step in the developing my own style, were more than three months to work on the aesthetic I wanted to obtain and we are satisfied with the results.

This is the beginning of many works to come, I hope you enjoy it.

  • Medusas, unfinished work

    Medusas, unfinished work

Almost 2 years ago I was commissioned to do an artwork for a magazine (who which I do not remember), but the project had many problems and never concluded. Although no longer to my liking and is only the beginning, I found that something of that effort should see the light. And I’m retaking the idea of the Medusas (jellyfish) for an upcoming personal project.
